Have you tried multiple approaches to settling without any success?

Wanting to educate yourself about infant and toddler sleep?

Are you planning or about to have a baby and not feeling confident?

Little Z’s can help.

What is a baby sleep consultant and what do we do ?

Many people have not heard of a baby sleep consultant until they have their own baby.

Too often I see parents reaching out for assistance with their child’s sleep and are instructed that sleep deprivation is normal and are encouraged to suck it up and get on with it. Whilst a certain amount of sleep deprivation is definitely associated with having a newborn baby, continuing sleep deprivation isn’t and long-term sleep deprivation has serious implication for bub and the whole family.

A qualified baby sleep consultant can help with a variety of sleep related issues and can assist with the following:

Newborn education for parents

Physiology of sleep and development

Age appropriate routine structure

Evidence based settling approaches

Promoting independent and safe sleep

Feeding advice

Eliminating night feeds and waking

Introducing solids

Post-natal support

Tips to Help Your Baby Sleep…

WATCH OUT FOR TIRED SIGNS

If we can watch out for tired signs we will ensure that baby is not becoming overtired and going to sleep at appropriate times. Some examples of tired signs include pulling ears, playing with hair, disinterest in toys and people, yawning and rubbing eyes.

NOTE THE AWAKE WINDOWS

Keeping note of awake windows helps you to ensure that baby is neither over tired or under tired.

PUT BABY TO BED DROWSY BUT AWAKE

It is important that baby is aware that it is being put down to sleep which helps them to develop self-soothing skills. Your goal is to get them almost asleep, but not completely, so they are still aware they are awake.

HAVE A GOOD WIND DOWN RITUAL IN PLACE

A wind down ritual signals to your baby and prepares them that it is time for bed. Keeping stimulation low is key. A wind down ritual may include a bath, a book, a massage, using sleepy language and then laying baby down in their room for sleep.
